by William P. Young

This isn’t the normal kind of book I read, which maybe is why I liked it so well. It’s about sorrow and hope and always about love. I’ve never been very spiritual, I’ve wanted to be but didn’t know how. Religion teaches us to give our life to God and I never wanted to do that. I wanted my life for myself, thank you very much. This book puts a whole different perspective on it.

A man loses his daughter in a violent way and can’t get over it. He learns to distrust God and everything else he believed in. Then he gets a summons to go to the one place that is the hardest for him to go to and he finds God. Some of the conversations touched me greatly because I can so relate.

“Mack, pain has a way of clipping our wings and keeping us from being able to fly.” “And if left unresolved for very long, you can almost forget that you were ever created to fly in the first place.”

“People are tenacious when it comes to the treasure of their imaginary independence….They find their identity and worth in their brokenness and guard it with every ounce of strength they have.”

All God wants is to fill us with himself…love.

I’m not sure I can do it yet but it is an inspiring, wonderful book and gave me hope
